In this interview, Prasanna shares his vision for the evolving SaaS landscape, highlights key trends shaping the industry, and explores the role of automation in driving business efficiency across the EMEA region

Q: Kissflow has been a leader in the low-code/no-code space. How do you see this industry evolving in the next five years?

The low-code and no-code industry has come a long way, and the next five years will see it evolve at an even faster pace. To understand where we’re headed, it’s worth looking at how we got here.

Kissflow was built on the idea of making application development accessible to everyone, not just those with technical expertise. To keep things simple, we started with rule-based computing and workflow automation—a precursor to AI-driven automation—before evolving it into a platform where business users could build enterprise applications through simple drag-and-drop interfaces. That was a major leap forward, but today, with the rise of Generative AI, we’ve entered an entirely new phase. Now, instead of manually designing workflows, users can simply describe what they need, and an AI-powered application builder does the heavy lifting.

If we project this trend forward, the next five years will be about making development even more intuitive and accessible. We’ll see a growing number of non-technical employees—from finance teams to HR managers—building their own solutions without waiting for IT backlogs to clear. In the Middle East, where digital transformation is a top priority, this could be a game-changer. Governments and enterprises across the UAE and Saudi Arabia are actively investing in citizen development initiatives, empowering employees to automate processes and create applications tailored to their needs.

At the same time, as more business users step into the role of “citizen developers,” security and governance will need to keep pace. IT teams won’t just be gatekeepers; they’ll become strategic enablers, ensuring the right guardrails are in place while allowing innovation to flourish. This is especially critical in highly regulated industries like banking and healthcare, where compliance is non-negotiable.

Ultimately, the future of low-code/no-code isn’t just about ease of use—it’s about broadening participation in digital innovation while maintaining the security and oversight businesses need. The organisations that strike this balance will be the ones that unlock the full potential of enterprise automation.

Q: What sets Kissflow apart from other low-code/no-code platforms in the market?

What makes Kissflow stand out in the low-code/no-code market is our ability to strike the perfect balance between simplicity and enterprise-grade power. Many platforms are either too basic—great for small tasks but not scalable for serious business needs—or too complex, requiring IT involvement at every step. Kissflow is different. We make it incredibly intuitive for business users to build their own applications while ensuring that IT teams have the flexibility, control, and security they need.

A key differentiator is our seamless integration with enterprise applications. Businesses in the Middle East rely heavily on platforms like SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft, and Kissflow connects with these systems effortlessly through a rich library of pre-built connectors. For organisations with more complex needs, our API-based integrations allow Kissflow to be embedded within their existing IT ecosystem, ensuring continuity rather than disruption. This is particularly valuable in industries like banking and retail, where legacy systems must work in sync with modern, agile applications.

The ability to combine ease of use with deep enterprise functionality is why we’re seeing growing adoption across the region.

Q: What are some of the latest features or innovations that Kissflow has introduced?

Recognising the market trends and requirements, our focus has been around embedding powerful AI into our platform, and making it simpler to integrate Kissflow with the wide IT ecosystem. We’re always looking ahead, making sure our platform evolves to meet changing business needs, regulatory shifts, and industry trends. AI is a big part of our roadmap, with new features rolling out regularly to enhance automation, streamline workflows, and help users make smarter decisions. As organisations demand more agility and intelligence from their low-code solutions, we’re making sure Kissflow stays ahead of the game.

Q: Security is a major concern for enterprises adopting low-code solutions. How does Kissflow address these concerns?

Security is always top of mind for enterprises in the Middle East, especially as organisations accelerate digital transformation while navigating strict regulatory requirements. At Kissflow, we’ve designed our platform to meet the highest standards of security and scalability, ensuring that businesses can embrace low-code development without compromising data protection or compliance.

Our cloud-native, modular architecture, powered by Docker and Kubernetes, allows enterprises to scale seamlessly while maintaining a strong security posture. We offer both multi-tenant and dedicated deployment options, giving businesses flexibility based on their needs. Advanced encryption protects data in transit and at rest, while role-based access controls ensure that only authorised users can modify or access critical workflows. Additionally, our comprehensive audit trails give IT teams full visibility into application changes and user activity—crucial for compliance in regulated sectors like banking, healthcare, and government.

From a compliance standpoint, Kissflow meets globally recognised security standards, including GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO 27001, helping businesses stay aligned with regulatory frameworks. In the Middle East, where data sovereignty is becoming increasingly important, these certifications provide added assurance to enterprises handling sensitive customer and operational data.

We also take business continuity seriously. With automated multi-region backups and a robust disaster recovery strategy, we ensure high availability and rapid data restoration. This means that even in the face of unexpected disruptions, businesses can continue operating without major downtime—a critical factor for industries that require 24/7 operations, such as retail, logistics, and finance.

Ultimately, security isn’t just a feature at Kissflow—it’s a fundamental part of how we build and deliver our platform. By combining enterprise-grade protection with the flexibility of low-code/no-code development, we help Middle East businesses innovate with confidence.

Q: What is Kissflow’s approach to expanding in new markets? Are there any specific regions where you see high demand?

At Kissflow, we’ve always had a global mindset, but our approach to expansion is driven by where we see the strongest demand for low-code and no-code solutions. The Middle East has been a major focus for us, and for good reason. The region is undergoing a rapid digital transformation, with governments and enterprises investing heavily in automation, AI, and process optimization.

Dubai, in particular, has been an ideal hub for us. With its strong business-friendly policies and a growing appetite for digital innovation, we set up our office in Dubai Internet City, where we’ve received an incredibly positive response. Today, we have several hundred customers across the region, spanning industries like banking, retail, logistics, and government, and we plan to double our presence in Dubai next year to meet growing demand.

One of the key reasons for our success here is the high regard for Indian tech talent in the Middle East. Many businesses in the UAE and Saudi Arabia look to India as a leader in enterprise software, and Kissflow built on that foundation of excellence, has been a natural fit.

Beyond the UAE, we’re seeing increasing demand in Saudi Arabia, where organisations are accelerating their digital transformation strategies. Saudi’s Vision 2030 initiative is driving a shift towards automation and AI, making low-code adoption a priority for enterprises looking to streamline operations and reduce IT bottlenecks.

Ultimately, our expansion is about being where our customers need us most. The Middle East is proving to be one of the fastest-growing markets for low-code and no-code, and we’re excited to continue scaling our presence to support businesses on their digital transformation journey.
